SCORM packages are zipped folders of HTML, JavaScript, XML manifests and media — designed to be played inside a Learning Management System, not read as documents. When training teams need a printable, archivable, or shareable version of a course, they hit a wall: the SCORM player is the only way to "see" the content, and screenshots one slide at a time is painful.

ScormToDoc removes that wall. Upload any SCORM 1.2 or SCORM 2004 package and our extractor walks the imsmanifest.xml, parses each slide's text content, pulls every embedded image, captures quiz questions with their feedback, and assembles a clean PDF — preserving slide order, headings, and media positioning.

    How it works (3 steps)

    1. Upload
Drop your SCORM .zip — Articulate, Captivate, Rise, iSpring, Lectora, or Easygenerator. We auto-detect the authoring tool.
    2. Extract
We parse manifest, slides, scenes, quiz interactions, narration audio, and every embedded image — locally in your browser, no server upload required.
    3. Download
Get a clean PDF, Word doc, or PowerPoint deck — plus a Content Vault with every raw asset ready to reuse.

    How SCORM-to-PDF conversion works

SCORM is a delivery standard, not a content format. Inside the .zip you'll find HTML files, JS bundles, an imsmanifest.xml that describes course structure, and media folders. Different authoring tools store content very differently:

    • Articulate Storyline stores slides in story_content/ as JSON-like JS bundles with text layers and embedded media references.
    • Articulate Rise uses a React SPA that hydrates content from a single large JS bundle — we deep-scan the top JS files to recover text and image refs.
    • Adobe Captivate uses CPM.js metadata plus a slide-image rendering pipeline; we recover text from CPM and stitch images positionally.
    • iSpring packages the original PowerPoint XML alongside the HTML player — we merge both sources for highest fidelity.
    • Lectora uses HTML pages with deep nested DOM — we use a leaf-first DOM walk to avoid duplicate text from container elements.
    • Easygenerator stores course data as JSON; we read it directly.

Once content is extracted, we generate the PDF locally in your browser using jsPDF. Nothing is uploaded to a server — your SCORM file stays on your machine the entire time.

    What gets extracted

    • Every slide of text content, with headings preserved
    • All embedded images, sized and placed in slide order
    • Quiz questions with answer choices, correct answers and feedback
    • Speaker notes and narration transcripts (when present)
    • Course title, description and section structure from imsmanifest.xml
    • Tables, lists and formatted blocks

    Common gotchas

⚠️ Image-only courses produce sparse PDFs
Some legacy Captivate or PowerPoint-exported SCORMs render every slide as a single flat image with no underlying text. We extract the images but the PDF cannot have selectable text. Use the Content Vault to download the assets.
⚠️ Wrapper SCORMs reference external content
A SCORM under 150KB with no media is usually a thin launcher pointing at content hosted on your LMS server. The actual training is not inside the .zip.
    ⚠️ Very large packages (>500MB)
Our extraction has dynamic timeouts (90s–240s) and a 100MB asset cap to keep the browser responsive. Massively oversized packages may need to be split.

    Frequently asked questions

Is my SCORM file uploaded to your servers?

No. Extraction and PDF generation run entirely in your browser using JSZip. Your file never leaves your machine, which is why we can offer the first 2 conversions free with no signup friction.

    Which SCORM versions are supported?

Both SCORM 1.2 and SCORM 2004 (all editions). The extractor reads the imsmanifest.xml to determine version and structure.

Can I convert a SCORM file without an LMS?

Yes. ScormToDoc is the easiest way to view and convert SCORM content without uploading it to Moodle, Cornerstone, Docebo or any other LMS.

Will the PDF look exactly like the course?

The PDF is optimized for readability and print, not as a pixel-perfect visual replica. Slides become pages with headings, body text, and images in order. For pixel-perfect output use the PowerPoint export instead.

    What about quizzes?

Quiz questions appear in bold, answer choices below them, correct answers marked, and feedback in italics — across PDF, Word, and PowerPoint exports.
